Echuca Regional Health understands how important it is to care for our community. Our community is also our families, friends and neighbours. Volunteers play a vital role at Echuca Regional Health and like many organisations, we would struggle to survive without them.
Volunteers at Echuca Regional Health perform a diversity of roles. They are varied and talented people who have a wide range of interests – professional people, retirees, newcomers to our community, students, men and women of all ages and social backgrounds. They are ordinary people making extraordinary contributions.
Whatever skills you have – it may be reading, gardening, fundraising, craft or cooking, we would like to talk to you about volunteering at Echuca Regional Health.
You can volunteer for an hour each month or one day each week – it is your choice. Volunteer opportunities are available in many areas – the hospital’s Emergency Department, reading, companionship, gardening, cooking, fundraising or assisting on one of the hospital’s Auxiliaries.
People volunteer for many reasons and in many different ways.
To acknowledge the outstanding contribution that volunteers make to the community, the Shire of Campaspe conduct an annual volunteer award program. ERH volunteer Mrs Lena Vicary was this year the deserved recipient of the Shire of Campaspe Individual Award; one who demonstrates significant contribution to volunteering.
A very modest Lena was presented with the Award at a special Shire of Campaspe function on 14 May 2010.
Giving something back to the community is a very rewarding experience. If you have an interest or skill you would like to share then take this opportunity to make a difference. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator to join our volunteer program.

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia, and provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our communities and to say thank you to the more than 5 million Australians who volunteer.
Australian volunteers are essential to society, and many charities would struggle to survive without the support of their volunteers. Australian volunteers contribute more than 700 million hours of community service to so many areas of society, including community health care, heritage and arts, environment conservation, emergency services, education, social justice and sports. NVW provides a platform to pay tribute to these volunteers who donate their time and energy to help others.
Help say thank you to the 135 registered volunteers at Echuca Regional Health at a celebratory morning tea to be held in the cafeteria on Wednesday 11 May 2011 commencing at 10.30 am.
Volunteers play a vital role at ERH and like many organisations, we would struggle to survive without them.
Several volunteer opportunities are currently available at ERH. If you are interested in becoming part of our volunteer team, please contact Deidre Madill, Volunteer Coordinator (03) 5485 5048 dmadill@erh.org.au
