Strategic Planning
The Board sought input from staff, General Practitioners, Visiting Medical Officers, community members and other service providers to assist with the development of the Strategic Priorities for 2012 to 2015.
The process considered:
- The expected population growth of the area, and the changing demographics and health status of the community we serve;
- State Government and Department of Health Priority Policies;
- How we can continue to provide quality health care for all.
Changing Demographics:
- Significant population growth is expected over the next 25 years – the Shire of Campaspe will increase by 18% and the Murray shire by 40%
- The percentage of females in the community will increase, along with the number of elderly people
- The number of young people in Echuca will increase
- The region we service has a higher incidence of cancer in both males and females than the rest of Victoria
- Males in the region have a higher rate of cardiovascular disease compared to the rest of Victoria
- A higher rate of diabetes in males of the region exists compared to the rest of Victoria
