Operating Suite
The operating suite is open for elective surgery Monday to Friday and offers a 24 hr service 7 days per week for emergency surgery. There are three operating rooms and a recovery room.
Surgical specialties include:
- General surgery (eg bowel surgery, cholecystectomy)
- Laparoscopic surgery
- Orthopaedics – (eg joint replacement)
- Dental surgery
- Ear, nose and throat
- Vascular surgery
- Paediatric surgery
- Obstetrics and gynaecology
- Ophthalmic surgery
- Urology
Day Surgery Unit
Pre- and post- surgical area for day procedure patients (see Day Surgery Unit). Patients who need to stay overnight post surgery are also admitted to Echuca Regional Health at the Day Surgery Unit.
Central Sterilising Services Department
The Central Sterilising Services department processes reusable surgical and medical equipment and provides sterile supplies.
All processing is in compliance with the Australian/New Zealand Standard 4187 (2003) and the Infection Control Guidelines for the prevention of transmission of infectious diseases in the health care setting (2004).
Theatre Liaison/Preoperative Clinic
The Theatre Liaison nurse organizes theatre bookings and pre-operative clinic appointments. The pre-operative clinic provides important information and tests required for those patients who need to stay in hospital overnight before their operation.
