Graduate Nurse Program
The Echuca Regional Health Graduate Nurse Program is designed to help the graduate nurse make the transition from student to Registered Nurse. The program is designed to provide consolidation of nursing knowledge and skills whilst using a holistic approach to the delivery of nursing care.
Graduate Nurse Support
Echuca Regional Health employs Clinical Nurse Educators five days per week to ensure you have access to the support you need.
Employment
Successful applicants will be offered a 52 week contract as a Division 1 Grade 1 Registered Nurse. Usually these positions are full time however you may be able to negotiate a part time contract.
Full time staff are entitled to five weeks annual leave and we usually encourage some of this to be accessed during the year.
We also offer all of our staff the opportunity to salary package.
Clinical Rotations
All Graduate Nurses have rotations through the areas such as medical, surgical and paediatric/midwifery wards, emergency department and aged care. You will also be offered the chance to select a specialty rotation from Community Nursing, Renal Dialysis, Midwifery and the Operating Theatre.
Theory
At the commencement of your Graduate Year, and again at the start of each new ward area, you will be provided with time for orientation. This is usually achieved by providing 2 supernumerary days at the commencement in a new area.
Eight study days are also provided during your program in conjunction with regular free in-service education sessions.
Questions to Ponder
Will the other hospitals guarantee you a variety of rotations through clinical settings?
Will you have the opportunity to undertake a specialty rotation?
How many Graduate Nurses do the other hospitals take?
How many Clinical Teachers do the other hospitals employ?
It is your Graduate Year - who are you prepared to work for?
