ERH Education Centre
Echuca Regional Health, with the support of the University of Melbourne and the Department of Human Services, has purchased Engelbert Lodge (a former Aged Care facility). Echuca Regional Health obtained vacant possession of Engelbert Lodge in December 2009. Renovation and refurbishment works are to be undertaken to convert the facility into a state-of-the-art teaching and accommodation facility for tertiary health students. It is anticipated that the renovations will be completed by December 2010.
The total end cost of the project is expected to be approximately $5 million, with $2.7 million currently secured for the project.
Amenities include:
- IT training hub including computer laboratory and library.
- Lecture theatre accommodating up to 50 people.
- Skills laboratory and procedure room.
- Meeting rooms and offices.
- Accommodation, kitchens, dining rooms, laundry and bathrooms for 36 people.
The facility will be an integrated training and accommodation building for all students and staff of Echuca Regional Health. Echuca Regional Health has a very active education unit which will be co-located in the facility. Whilst the primary purpose of the facility will be targeted at medical students, it is expected that staff and students from multiple disciplines will utilise the facility.
