Community Support
Echuca Regional Health benefits greatly from the generosity of community members and organisations, whether it be through major fundraising activities such as the Murray to Moyne or through a contributions to the ERH Foundation. It is also important to recognise contributions from volunteers and in kind support that are an integral part of the Health Service.
The Murray to Moyne raised over $50,000, enabling the installation of a pneumatic tube between the Emergency Department and Goulburn Valley Pathology. In 2010 the race raised over $35,000 towards the purchase of an Ultrasound machine for the Emergency Department. Ultrasound is increasingly being used in Emergency Medicine to assist in the diagnosis of critically ill patients. The purchase of this machine will revolutionise Echuca Regional Health’s Emergency Department, aiding in accurate and rapid diagnosis and reducing waiting times.
The Moama Bowling Club continues its generous relationship with the health service and the community, donating $30,000 to purchase a new colonoscope, and coming on board as a Gold Sponsor in the Murray to Moyne.
The Blue Ribbon Foundation Echuca Branch, continues to raise funds for the Emergency department and in 2010 contributed $26,000 toward the purchase of equipment, including an Ophthalmic Slit Lamp and an Emergency Resuscitation Unit.
The Horizon Committee is a relatively small group of local people who run the annual 'Murray Meander' fundraiser, of which a substantial amount is donated to both Echuca Regional Health and the Otis Foundation. The Horizon Committee donated $25,000 to Rose Baker Ward, to purchase a new infant incubator.
However even the smaller donations make a big difference.
Donations whether monetary or in kind, assist us in continually improving the health services for the Echuca/Moama region and are received with thanks. We are building for our future generations, just as we have done since 1882, maintaining Echuca Regional Health's valuable facilities for the benefit of the entire community.
