The Blue Ribbon Foundation
The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation perpetuates the memory of members of the Victoria Police killed in the line of duty through the support of worthwhile community projects within Victoria. The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation Inc. is an incorporated not for profit association which is GST exempt and has Deductible Gift Recipient Status.
The Echuca branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation organise several projects throughout the year. All funds raised from the events go directly to benefit the Emergency Department of Echuca Regional Health.
The biannual 'Inside Story' nights prove to be a popular and entertaining evening, with current and ex-police men and women sharing their experiences solving real-life crime.
The annual Blue Ribbon "Gala Ball" is the major fundraising event for 2012, with fine dining and entertainment by the upbeat Victoria Police rock band 'Code One'. To be held at Rich River Golf Club Resort commencing at 6.30 pm - dress code cocktail. Tickets $75 per person includes sumptuous three course dinner - drinks at bar prices. In recognition of this partnership between the Blue Ribbon Foundation and Echuca Regional Health, the Emergency Department is named in memory of a local police officer who was killed in the line of duty.
Constable George Henry Taylor was shot in the line of duty in an arrest attempt, Constable Taylor died on the 20th March 1920 aged 35 years, leaving behind a widow and three children under the age of four years. A memorial plaque is on display in the waiting room of the Emergency Department.
